Privacy policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026 · Last updated: October 1, 2026
Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Paperwork Labs LLC handles information in connection with 1099copy, available at 1099copy.com. 1099copy is still in development. This site is an informational page, with account sign-in and an optional interest form ahead of launch. We are publishing this policy now so our practices are documented and reviewable ahead of launch, and we will update it as the product changes and before any service goes live.
Information we may collect
You can create a 1099copy account. Account creation and sign-in happen on Paperwork ID (accounts.paperworklabs.com), the shared sign-in service Paperwork Labs LLC runs for its products, which collects your name, email address, and password or other sign-in method. When you sign in, this site receives your Paperwork ID account identifier, email address, and name, and sets a sign-in cookie in your browser that lasts up to 14 days and is cleared when you sign out.
Once you are signed in, you can choose to tell us your business name, roughly how many forms you plan to file, and whether you want one email when filing opens. We store those answers with your Paperwork ID account identifier and the email address on your account.
The landing page includes a demo that lets you choose or drop a spreadsheet (CSV, TSV, or Excel) to preview how it becomes filing-ready forms; that file is read and parsed entirely in your browser, and its contents are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers.
We also automatically collect basic technical and analytics information when you visit this site, described in "How we use information, and who we share it with" below.
How we use information, and who we share it with
We use the technical information described above to keep this site running, understand basic traffic, and keep it secure. We use your sign-in details to keep you signed in, and your interest-list answers to plan for the filing season and to send you the one email you asked for when filing opens. We do not use any of it to serve advertising, and we do not sell it.
This site's hosting provider also runs its first-party analytics, so one provider handles both jobs today. It receives your device's IP address with every request, and uses that address in the moment to work out your approximate location and to build a hash that identifies your visit; it does not store the address itself. On every page you load, it records the page's address and the time, the page that sent you here when your browser reports one, any tracking parameters already in the URL, your approximate location, and your browser, operating system, and device type. It does not use cookies or a persistent visitor ID: the visit hash is discarded after 24 hours, and it never receives the contents of the spreadsheet you preview in the demo above.
Our contact email address is delivered through a separate, third-party, DNS-based email-routing service that forwards mail addressed to it into our own inbox. That provider can access the sender's email address and the contents of any message sent to that address.
Interest-list answers are stored in our own application database, which runs on third-party hosting and database providers that can access it.
We do not use any advertising or ad-tech vendor, and we do not sell information to data brokers.
How long we keep information
This site does not collect or store the spreadsheet you preview, so there is nothing from that demo to retain, as explained above. Once 1099copy's filing feature is live, we plan to keep copies of the information returns we help you file for at least three years from the due date of the return (four years for Form 1099-C, or for any return where backup withholding was imposed), matching the IRS recordkeeping rule for information returns. For W-2 copies specifically, we plan to keep them for at least four years after the due date of the related employment tax, matching the federal employment-tax recordkeeping rule.
We keep your interest-list answers until you remove them or you delete your Paperwork ID account, which removes them too. You can remove them yourself from your signed-in home page at any time, or ask us at privacy@1099copy.com.
We will update this section to describe our actual operating practice once the filing product is live and these periods are enforced, not before.
Certifications and security
The security of your personal information is important to us. We follow generally accepted standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once it is received. If you have any questions about the security of your personal information, you can contact us at privacy@1099copy.com.
Your choices and rights
You can contact us to ask what information we have about you or to raise a question about this policy. We will take reasonable steps to confirm your identity before completing a request involving personal information.
We confirm we received your request within 2 business days and complete it within 30 days. If the law that applies to you allows more time and we need it, we will tell you before the 30 days are up.
Denials and appeals. We may deny a request only if we can't verify your identity, the specific data is under a retention duty or an active legal hold, or the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. If we deny a request, we'll tell you why in writing, and you can appeal by replying to the same email within 60 days. You can also complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency, your state attorney general, or the Federal Trade Commission.
Changes to this policy
Because 1099copy is still in development, we expect this policy to change. If we make a material change to how we collect or use information, we will update this policy and change the effective date above before the change takes effect. We will publish a revised version here before 1099copy launches.
